Fast -paced but interesting erotic romance. It was a bit short and the sex scenes were okay. The hero was not as alpha male as you would expect in this type of erotica but it was an okay book.Product details

Hold My Hand Heart And Soul Book 1 edition by Paloma Beck Erin DameronHill Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Hold My Hand by Paloma Beck Native Ohioan Aubrey is an attractive and kind woman in spite of being raised by a heartless and cruel father that constantly berated her. Due to encouragement from her sister Evelyn and her own perseverance, Aubrey receives an academic scholarship to Emerson College and escapes her father's hateful clutches. She graduates with a degree in literature and moves onto Boston College to work toward a master's degree. As she pursues her dream of being an author, she works as a barrister to pay her bills. Unfortunately, her low opinion of herself and self-doubt, prevent her from achieving real happiness. That is until she meets William.
William is an extremely wealthy philanthropist and an experienced dominant. When Aubrey accidentally runs into him in front of the coffee shop, there is a mutual chemistry. William asks her for a dinner date and from then on, they are a couple. William wants Aubrey in his bed as his submissive, and with great gentleness, patience and seduction, convinces her to try his lifestyle. His uncanny ability to recognize Aubrey's uncertainties and understand her needs, makes him even more attractive to her. William believes her submissiveness to him will free her from her demons and insecurities. His training methods are gentle and with Aubrey's submissive nature, their relationship thrives quickly. Overtime, they become one with each other and his lifestyle becomes their lifestyle.
This is an intense, emotional narrative that is well-written and passionate. Ms. Beck has an enticing way of describing BDSM scenes which smoothly guides the reader into understanding the lifestyle. I found Aubrey's character to be pathetic and sad, in addition to being submissive. Ms. Beck's voice is calm and careful, which kept me engaged during a couple of harsher scenes that would normally turn me off. If you enjoy erotic romance combined with mild BDSM, give Hold My Hand a read.
Oh man... Pretty early on in this story... I just knew that this book wasn't going to be for me.
Right away Aubrey was all "yes sir" and William was very commanding. Telling her to drink the wine at dinner then only ordering one meal so that they can share the meal and he can feed her! (In public!!!)
And she just goes along for it!
They have never had a conversation at all. They only seen each other at the coffee shop she works at.
But, yet she is allowing all this!! That's just crazy!
And frustrating! Because, I just know how this story is going to go.
Ok... I think that dinner could have been used to get to know each other and not just start off with the whole "yes sir","no sir" kind of stuff.
And her never looking at William. (Her eyes always cast down!...UGHHH)
It was just to much to soon. And the way William talks was pretty much getting to me. And the way Aubrey would just automatically submit to William...
Just had me rolling my eye and saying to my self...give me a break. So unbelievably!
As I kept reading... I just couldn't help but think that they just met. Had one dinner and then nothing until they meet again at his house. I did not feel the attraction at all. I just kept thinking how can she just go along with it all. Not have a voice to this stranger.
And.... How can he be so into her. Wanting Aubrey to be his... Move in with him... be his girlfriend.
They only have had 2 conversations! And haven't even had sex yet!
All this is going on and I'm only 18% into the book.
The internal dialogue from Aubrey was also too much.
I HATE when a MC has these long conversations with themselves in their head. Just kills the flow of a book.
I also hated how the author referred to their relationship.
Aubrey began to think of William as her nourishment. Feeding her inside and out.
And, William with wanting Aubrey's submission and obedience.
And, I also hated his nicknamed or her "Little Elf"!
Oh boy... I think if the author would have worked her way up to all this... I would have been able to be tolerate this book a little more.
But... I just couldn't.
Overall this book just want for me.
The characters weren't developed there wasn't a plot. If you just like reading about sex without context then you will like this book.
My wife reading this to be a complete joy on our long trip to Maine to eat Lobsters needless to say I enjoyed the results.
This book is very hot and an incredibly sexy fantasy. That being said, that is very much what it is, a Cinderella fantasy. It's a great escape but don't expect much realism here.
Fast -paced but interesting erotic romance. It was a bit short and the sex scenes were okay. The hero was not as alpha male as you would expect in this type of erotica but it was an okay book.
